Based out of Burlington, Vermont, The Amida Bourbon Project is led by the captivating and powerful vocals of singer-songwriter Aya Inoue. Born and raised in Japan, Inoue received vocal and classical guitar training as a youth in Tokyo. Upon moving to the United States in 1998 at age 15, Inoue's passion for music grew insurmountably as she was exposed to the many different genres of music that America had to offer.
Inoue's love and appreciation for many styles of music is reflected in her songwriting; never one to be confined to a stereotype or label, her music has been described as Folk by some, Americana by others, even Country at times by others. Inoue's ability to connect with an audience through the power of music is indicative of honesty behind the stories she tells through her songs.
Inoue's vocals have been featured on various Vermont recording artist releases, including RAQ, Lowell Thompson, and Blues & Lasers. She joined Mike Gordon (Phish) on a brief tour during the summer of 2006, providing support vocals for his side project titled Ramble Dove. Inoue continues to be an active music collaborator in the Burlington, VT, music scene.
The Amida Bourbon Project features Matt Harpster on lead guitar, Aaron Flinn on bass, Jason Corbiere on drums, and Jackie Buttolph on vocals. Matt Harpster, a collaborator on many of Inoue's songs, has been writing and playing music with Inoue since 2006 and was part of ABP's previous incarnation, The Leaves.
Since returning from a Germany/Switzerland tour in May 2011, the Amida Bourbon Project is rapidly evolving into becoming a popular Northern New England band, capable of morphing its unique sound to meet the needs of its crowd.
